The Challenge
Sardilli is a locally owned food distributor with a regional footprint. As part of their sustainability mission, they prioritize limiting waste, but due to the nature of their business, it’s inevitable that items will spoil and be deemed unfit for consumption. They needed a way to handle these unsalable scraps.
The Partnership
Working with All Waste, a solid waste and recycling hauler, we devised a plan to divert food waste from Sardilli’s Hartford facility to Quantum. Their staff was trained in good food diversion practices, and new disposal equipment was installed by the All Waste team.

The Results
Every week, Sardilli diverts 12,500 pounds of food waste — amounting to 600,000 pounds per year — which represents substantial financial savings and overall positive environmental impact.
In tandem with Sardilli and hauling partner All Waste, we’re able to convert unsalable produce into clean energy on a weekly basis.
